A Poem by Joseph Irungu
There is what I want
There is what I'd not want
I do not want you to be the sun
And I to be the moon
To shine with light
Borrowed for you
Or to be the earth
And Swing in an orbit
Ruled by your gravity
I do not seek to be a stream
Whose destiny is to
Loose itself in the
Vastness of you the ocean
I do not seek that
You be a mighty tree
And I the Shadow of that tree
I do not seek to be the Sun
And you the moon
I do not seek to be the ocean
And you the stream
I seek that together
We be the sun
We be the ocean
We be the mighty tree
You be the lion
I be the lioness
You be the king
I be the queen
I seek
A body partner
A mind mate
A friend in lives struggle
A soul comrade
A destiny collaborator
A fellow traveler
A body lover
A mind lover
A soul lover
