BRIEF SUMMARISED EXTRACTS FROM MY DIALOGUE WITH THINKERS
(Disclaimer: The following thinkers were great creative geniuses, my aim here is not to disrespect their contribution but to develop knowledge)
(1) Karl Marx- philosophers have only interpreted the world the point is to change it. True to a certain extent but If one changes the interpretation of a something from rope to snake, God from a jealous king to a loving father or a political system from free enterprise to exploitative capitalism. He has already started changing the world
(2) Karl Marx- religion is the opium of the people, counter claim; religion can be the (1)poison, (2)drug-opium (3)medicine of the people: i.e. (1)killing, (2)asking them to sleep (3) uplifting their minds souls or sprits. There is lower and higher religion.
(3) Galileo Galilei-The sun not the earth is the centre of the solar system; astronomically that is true.
Counterclaim: there are many centres depending on the quality or capacity used as a measure, the sun is the astronomical centre of the solar system-but the earth for now is moral-intellectual spiritual centre where soul intelligence spirit dwells.
(4)Ali Mazrui-(1) Africans political, respond to their tribesmen rather than to ideologies politics and programs: True up to a point, But Africans would respond to a non-tribesman who promised to increase their incomes radically than a tribesman who would promise to reduce it radically
According to Albert Einstein insanity is doing the something over and over again and expecting different results.
CONSIDER:
Mixing tea, water, milk and boiling it over and over again getting tea first time and expecting to get porridge second, third time,
But consider hitting a piece of wood a nail and a hammer and expecting to get the same results,
Borrowing from friends and not paying,
Insulting or disrespecting people all over again.
Albert Einstein-in his theory of relativity- if all planets’ stars and galaxies
were to disappear time and space would disappear with them but in Newtons theory time and space would left without planets, stars and galaxies
Debate- How would one do an experiment (making all planets- stars disappear) to determine which theory is correct; whether time and space disappear or not?
Kwame Nkrumah- Socialism follows from the fact all human being are equal as all are composed of the same matter (materialism)
Counter claim- If one argues that human beings are composed of mind- souls or spirits one could prove the equality of mankind Ngugi wa Thiong’o in his writings Ngugi has criticized(with justification) the evil in society- attributed to capitalists and people who call themselves Christians
Question: How do we judge the moral truth of religions and ideologies?
(1)The principles of founders
(2) The moral life of founder
(3)The practices of people who claim to be his followers
MAZRUI- TOM MBOYA
The absence of a name of a reality like capitalism or socialism does not imply its absence.
Observation- True up to a certain extent
Counter claim- Language can create or uncreate reality by changing value meaning significant of events, e.g.:
1. Circumcision to F.G.M
2. Business leader to capitalist
3. Heroic warrior to cattle rustler
Julius Nyerere-There was no name like capitalism in traditional Africa therefore capitalism did not exist in traditional Africa.
Counter claim- While language can change meaning or significance; it cannot create or uncreate practices or institution capitalism as a philosophical or scientific mode of organizing politics or economics could not exist without the name capitalism, but as a customary mode of organizing economics activities it could exist.
Vulgan Darwinists (not Charles Darwin)-Only the fittest can survive
To Vulgar Darwinists, fitness here means the strongest, biggest, most ruthless, most merciless survive, including individuals’ business companies and nations
CONSIDER:
(1) In the sea who is the fittest the fish or the lion
(2) When there is the fire in the forest who is the fittest- birds or elephant
(3) In the sky who is the fittest elephant or the sparrow
(4) In dryland who is the fittest goat or crocodile.
(5) When there is a flood- Cobras, Mosquitos or House flies
DIALOGUE WITH PHILOSOPHER IMMANUEL KANT- GEORGE HEGEL- ALBERT EINSTEIN-SRI AUROBINDO
"When we look at the material bodies and things like
trees, people, animals, tables, and planets etc. we notice they
occupy space i.e., they' are extended, they have length and
width. We cannot imagine material bodies and things which
are not extended, do not occupy space, we cannot even be
able to perceive then imagine them or understand them. We
cannot imagine a person, a table, an elephant all occupying the
same point in space
Philosopher Kant argues that real things are not in space, it is
our minds which puts them there because it cannot be able to
perceive things, (bodies) which do not occupy space
As far as known all events happen at a certain time, second,
minute, hour, day, week, month, year, decade etc.
We observe All events as situated/happening in time and space.
Kant argues that real events happen beyond times:
Events are perceived in time by the human mind which puts them there.
Philosophers- Hegel and Sri-Aurobindo
Argue that human material (limited) mind has no choice but to perceive
bodies and events in space and time even if they are beyond times and space:
An infinite intelligence (God) perceives things events, universe beyond time and space
Dialogue with Kant ,Hegel, Sri Aurobindo(Philosophers)
How can mind of a man (Kant, Hegel, Aurobindo) go (free itself) beyond time and space
to be able to discover that things, bodies are really beyond time and space.
I.e. How can the mind of Kant Hegel Sri Aurobindo criticize themselves?
How can they criticize themselves?
How can the criticize themselves without asserting that they can know what is impossible to know
(*NB EINSTEIN ALSO STATES THAT TIME AND SPACE ARE IN OUR MINDS NOT IN THE UNIVERSE IMAGINE-PLANETS-STARS -PEOPLE-TREES ANIMALS OCCUPYING ZERO SPACE)
CAN YOU IMAGINE:
(1) All planets, stars, galaxies compressed in zero space, infinite planets occupying zero space
(2) Tables, people trees, plants, animals all existing in zero length width, depth height in infinite planets
(3)Can you imagine a world a universe where all events happen in zero time all compressed in zero time Can you imagine a world in which past present are one, morning ,midday and night are one
(4)ln a world without space can we fit all the waters in all ocean in zero- dimensional cup
(5)ln a world without time is it possible for parent and child to be born at the same time or seed and grown plant to appear at the same time
God-mind (infinite) unlimited, man mind (limited);
(1) Is it possible for the human mind (limited) to know how an unlimited mind infinite(God) sees the universe?
(2) Is it possible for the human mind to know what it cannot know i.e., how a superhuman mind sees the universe?
(3) For the human mind to criticize itself. It must be able to perceive itself from a superhuman perspective
(4) ls it possible for the human eye to see what it cannot see; for the human ear to hear what it cannot hear?
(5) For the human mind to know what it cannot not know it must be in a position to know what it does not know.
